Metropolis

Beyond all ideas of right and wrong there is a field, I will meet you there.

- Rumi

This pen drawning was inspired by favorite album of all time album titled Tyranny by Julian Casablancas and the Voidz. The album revolves around the idea of social collapse due to social issues we encounter such as greed, materialism, or consumerism.

Likewise, after watching the 1927 science fiction movie Metropolis, I pictured a futuristic city made to ruins from the forces expressed in Tyranny with the idea of what Metropolis had in mind.

One specific song off the album which sums up this theme as a whole, Human Sadness, repeats the quote written above as a means of hope, virtue, and peace for the future of society or perhaps on a personal level. The phrase originated from the middle eastern poet Rumi.
