Vacant

When it comes to landscapes, I have always been captivated by snowy mountains; vacant white giants, silently watching over the world.

This watercolor, designed without a visual, was difficult when making sure to leave the white snow untouched while providing the proper shade of peaks and valleys. As a result, multiple coats were done over several days to create the intended effect.

The blue sky in the corner is formed by sharp, thick surrounding clouds. In the Arctic, these kinds of clouds generally blend less than normal due to the cold atmosphere, and therefore create patches of solid blue in the sky.
